Road Trip to Warhammer World

A large number of my friends and acquaintances are off to play in the Throne of Skulls tournament at Nottingham this weekend. I have decided to act as 'team' photographer as firstly it's a good excuse to go and secondly it should mean I've got Blog posts for the next couple of weeks without putting a lot of effort in other than compiling photos into appropriate sub sections ;-)

Of course the downside to this is that it won't be practical for me to do blog posts this weekend.....I will however try to post some status updates (and perhaps the odd picture) on the Gmorts Chaotica Facebook page in order to keep you going.

Hopefully I'll have time to have a mooch about as well ;-)

To anybody who I only know as a cool internet name who happens to be going to this event I'll periodically hold my arms in the air for no apparent reason so I at least look a bit like the picture in the corner of my blog page. That way you can say hello or just ignore me completely depending on how you feel at the time...

Bye till after the weekend then.....

House of Paincakes 'Hop Idol' - Update.

Editors Note - This article is now completely redundant due to this announcement right here,

http://www.houseofpaincakes.com/2011/10/important-hop-idol-update.html

However you can just look at the Mila Kunis picture if you like as that should always be relevant for reasons that I'm sure I don't need to explain, lol.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you who haven't been paying attention, the Blog Network I've been writing articles for every Tuesday has recently held a competition to find a new writer. There have been various different tasks for the competitors but the most recent was for each of the remaining five to interview an existing author.

Links to the interviews can be found here.

If you have a minute or two spare go and have a read through them all and then vote on which four you think are the best (the actual poll is in the top right hand corner of the blog itself).

I'm obviously slightly biased towards Lantz's interview as he interviewed me and if he doesn't get through that obviously means that I'm boring and therefore would most likely have to stop blogging forever due to the disappointment and shame. It also had a picture of Mila Kunis in it which imo automatically gives it bonus points.

It wasn't actually this picture.....but I happen to like this one ;-)

Also one of the guys (HotPanda) interviewed himself rather than the author he was assigned which I'm inclined to think means he shouldn't get through due to the fact that he didn't actually do what he was asked as well as having the slight advantage of being able to make his interview flow better due to having advance notice of the answers. Of course that's just my opinion, lol.

So give the interviews a read and cast your votes as you see fit*

* As long as at least one of them is a vote for Lantz ;-)

Games Workshop - Sneak Preview.

Apparently the long rumoured 'Specialist game' release from Games Workshop is going to involve Pirates.....which is a shame as I'd much rather have had something to do with Battlefleet Gothic or a Space Hulk expansion.

Never mind,

Change of E-Mail and Other News.

For those of you who e-mail me with requests for list help, article requests or just to complain about my use of swear words and pictures of girls in their underwear to liven up blog posts I have created a dedicated e-mail address. Things were getting lost and overlooked amongst my other stuff at my usual address so this seemed like the best solution.

If you need to contact me for anything blog related can you please use the new e-mail address of,

gmortschaotica@hotmail.co.uk.

I'm also in the process of starting a Facebook page with links to my posts for those amongst you who like to get their information in that manner but there won't be much on it yet,

Facebook profile

I've discovered that I get a lot more comments from my 'real world' friends when I link to my posts on my Facebook page so I'm seeing if the same applies in this case, lol.

This is the first time I've attempted something like this so I'll probably make a complete fuck-up of it for the first few weeks so please be patient ;-)

Oh, and here's a picture of an attractive girl with a flame-thrower as a reward for your patience...

Thoughts and Comments are (as usual) most welcome.

I Quite like the Dark Eldar Models but I'm completely indifferent to the Chaos Daemon ones. At least we now have a Herald of Tzeentch model but unfortunately I'd still have to make my own in order to fit my armies theme :-(

The Games Workshop Newsletter12.08.2011
In this issue: Extra reinforcements for Chaos Daemons & Dark Eldar this weekend!

In Hobby Centres on August 20th
A whole host of new models are available for you to buy this weekend. Chaos Daemons can be fielded in both Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000 and as Sorcerous Pacts in your Storm of Magic games. With the new Battleforce/Battalion, it's never been easier to field your own Chaos Daemons army. Worshippers of Tzeentch can show their loyalty with the new Blasted Standards, as well as fielding a Herald of Tzeentch, while those who follow Khorne will be able to use the two new Banners of Rage sets, all of which are available in Citadel Finecast. Dark Eldar fans can also rejoice as we've added two alien servants of the Dark Eldar, the Ur-Ghul and the Medusae, also available in Citadel Finecast.

Head into stores on August 20th to be the first to get your hands on these new releases.

Shameless Filler Post.

The 2nd part of the 'Thoughts on Vulkan' series is taking a lot longer than I thought it was going to so that won't be appearing till tomorrow now. I've also done a brief outline of a couple more 'List Design' posts that should appear early next week.

My posting has been somewhat erratic of late due to a combination of real life, parenting commitments and sheer bloody laziness. I hope to rectify that but I'm not promising anything, lol.

I'd also like to thank the 65 people who bothered to click on adverts and the 2 people who bought stuff from Wayland games via the banner at the top.

If anybody else would like to follow their example it would be much appreciated. I'd also like to thank the rest of you who have stuck with the blog despite my somewhat random posting schedule ;-)

See you all tomorrow......hopefully.....

Back (But Not Necessarily By Public Demand)

Yes, I have returned.....Hip, Hip, Hooray!!! you all cry.....

Or maybe you just cry.....

Who knows?

Anyway,

My weekly House of Paincakes article will be appearing some time today. I pre-warn you it's a bit self pitying, lol. As I don't want to break tradition I'll have a linking article on my own blog that will also have pictures of some random hot-girl in it for no immediately justifiable reason other than I want to...

Tomorrow I'll be doing a (somewhat belated) article on the 'Young Bloods' Tournament that I went to in order to give moral support to a young gentleman from my FLGS and Thursday I'll try and catch up with some of the list assistance e-mails that I've yet to look at. After that, normal service will be resumed.

See you all soon, lol.

A Brief Break from Blogging.

I am up to my eyeballs in 'Real Life' stuff to do over the next few days so blogging will have to unfortunately go on 'standby' mode till Monday next week.

Though telling you all this will undoubtedly effect my blog 'hits' for the next few days it did seem the polite thing to do, lol. Hopefully I'll be back to boring you with the same inane crap and random waffling on (that you all seem to come back for repeatedly) early next week.

If your desperate for a blogging fix then you can try some of the sites in my 'Links' section or have a read through some of the old stuff that you might have missed. On a side note, thanks to the few of you who have clicked on the adverts that the resulting revenue of paid for the fuel I used driving to Nottingham to take pics of the 'Young Bloods' tournament (which I'll be doing an article on as soon as I'm back to normal output). If you could keep on doing that then it would be much appreciated. Also if your not yet a follower of the blog then you can always do that as well ;-)

Until then here's a picture of an attractive half-naked girl holding a Flame-thrower that will further guarantee that I never get approved for the FTW blog network......

I suppose I best use the word 'Fuck' at least once as well.....

One of those 'what I'm doing' posts.....

So I have a couple of e-mail requests for help to sort out that require working to odd points values and/or non-standard FOC's so they'll take a bit of thought. So you guys (you know who you are) will have to wait a bit.

My report on my 2nd Company progress for the week can be summed up like this,

I've also decided to start off my 'featured army' Saturday posts with one of my own armies so I can fine tune the format and questionnaire without making anybody else's army look lame by screwing up the layout in any way.

Sunday's 'Primarch' post should still be on schedule. This week I'm having a go at Magnus the Red ;)

As this seems like a poor excuse for a blog post I attempted to find some way of occupying my readers till I had something vaguely interesting to say. It would obviously have to have 'geek' appeal but at the same time fulfil the expectation that an attractive girl would somehow be involved,

I settled upon this.....

Apparently this was the young ladies attempt at a Pikachu costume.....Rule 34 is true it seems.....

Predicted Feature Failure Fails as Predicted

As I suspected I didn't have time to get an army photographed and the owner interviewed in time for today in order to start the 'Featured Army' set of articles. I did warn you it probably wouldn't happen this week so I feel less bad than I normally do when I miss a deadline I do however have one lined up for next week and have given myself plenty of time to get it organised for a change.

Though I'm not entirely innocent as I spent most of today playing Deathwatch.....

Erratic Blogging and Other Apologies...

Blogging can be a demanding mistress,

For those of us without 'Internet Celebrity' status before we start our own blogs it's a small beginning. Usually we throw up a few pictures of things were proud of, post our current army list, write that tactica article we've had in the back of our minds forever or any of a dozen other things that seem like a good idea at the time.

We tell our friends who then become followers as much out of sympathy as any real interest in our meandering brain ramblings and maybe plug our little projects as thinly disguised comments on other more popular blogs and forums...Most of us give up pretty quickly or end up posting once a month or in one particularly strange case end up as a clothing website*

* You'll either know where I mean or wont but for those of you in the 'know' camp I'm sure your having a quiet chuckle to yourself now...

Some of us stick at it though and end up with a decent following of people who either through luck, masochism or a genuine interest in our work stick around. Unfortunately like the aforementioned mistress that following needs to be satisfied.....and often at that ;-)

Now lets stop talking generally and talk about me,

Some of my more popular articles are tricky and time consuming to get right and some just require access to a search engine but even the simple stuff takes time and that available time's been a bit random lately.

For those of you who are unaware I work worked in the construction industry and that industry in the UK is in quite a sorry state. The companies that could use my expertise (I repair repaired surveying equipment to be specific) would rather pay somebody less money to do a worse job than pay me to do the job properly...

I have therefore decided to go into business for myself as I need far less of a profit margin to cover my overheads and make a living than a big company would as I have no need of a sales force, typing pool, board of directors or that guy you always see wandering about who nobody actually knows the job description of...

So that's been eating into my time at the most random and inconvenient of moments which may explain my somewhat erratic posting schedule of late. I however plan to become more organised by reattempting to work to an almost nearly vague set schedule.

Which will be this,

Sunday.
Primarch Posts - These are the ones that I most often promise and then fail to deliver. This week however I published my stats for Corax as promised and next Sunday will feature Fulgrim or maybe Alpharius if I can iron out the wrinkles (balancing the rules is currently eluding me with the Alpha Legion guys I'm afraid).

Monday.
Probably Bugger All - I usually write my Tuesday Blog post on a Monday as it needs to be approved by my evil overlords benevolent and wonderful hosts at The House of Paincakes Blog Network and I also have to find a suitably nerdy bit of Eye-Candy to use in the post on my own blog that links to it.

Tuesday.
House of Paincakes and Eye-Candy - This as always will be the day I link to my HoP article and then liven it up with some pictures of pretty ladies ;-)

Wednesday and Thursday.
E-mails In - These will be the days that I sort out any e-mail or personal requests for list help (I don't get loads but am happy to help anybody who requires it). My E-mail address is at the top right corner of the blog for those who require it.

Friday.
2nd Company Progress - I'm going to allocate myself an hour or two a night for painting and converting so any progress made will probably appear on this day.

Saturday.
Featured Army - This is a new feature that I'll be hopefully doing every week where I'll 'feature' an army belonging to somebody of my acquaintance (at first anyway). Hopefully I can use this spot to showcase well painted and competitive armies with a brief interview with their creator on what inspired them to create them, how they use them, what issues the armies have, etc. This is going to take some organising so is most likely the one feature that I might miss the deadline for on the first week for which occurrence I'll apologise for in advance just in case ;-)

The in betweens.
I'll continue to publish Games Workshop related 'Newsletters' as they appear in my Inbox for those few people in the world who don't actually receive them themselves and any interesting 'leaks' that find there way to me will be slotted into the schedule where appropriate.

And now a humble request...
Most of my available finances will be being re-invested into my own business for the foreseeable future which will make certain 'hobby' related investments a bit more tricky. Those of you who enjoyed my coverage of such events as 'The Throne of Skulls' in the UK and other events can help me to fund these activities by clicking on the various unobtrusive adverts that are scattered around the blog. There's' no need to click on them all every day but if you could be kind enough to click on a couple every other visit this would be much appreciated. You can also order things from Wayland Games via the banner at the top of the blog (at a good discount compared to Games Workshop) for which I apparently (It's yet to happen, lol) get a small commission. Any monies generated will be used to fund coverage of tournaments and hobby events rather than go into my 'Buy Gmort a Yacht Fund**'

** Of course if anybody wants to buy me a yacht I'd obviously be too polite to refuse ;-)

So that's it then, but to summarise...
Sorry about the erratic posting schedule, I'll try to do better and please click on some advertisements.....

And thanks to all of you who have supported the blog as followers and lurkers over the last year or so it's your support that makes it worthwhile.

Plans for Next Week...

I'm off to the Uk Games Expo 2011 tomorrow today so hopefully I'll have plenty of pictures of some decent 40K armies from the tournament bit and anything else I find that's of interest ready to post either late Sunday or sometime Monday.

I also have two Primarch Posts (Corax and Alpharius/Omegon) almost complete, a few 'help me' e-mails to sort out and the next part of the 'List Building' articles should be appearing pretty soon as well. So hopefully next week should have something of interest for everyone ;-)

Until then, please except this picture of a girl with a Sub-Machine Gun.

Making Rash Promises.....

Due to Blogger being down for several days I'm somewhat behind on some of the things I promised various people that I'd do and subsequently haven't...Therefore the Primarch post will turn up next Sunday.

I fortunately managed to get my Tuesday HoP article done but I may have trouble completing the accompanying 'Eye-Candy' post that you've all come to know and love. In addition I'm now going to be away for a few days which always interferes with my schedule, lol.

Therefore post output may be a little erratic for the next few days. If you get bored you can always read some of the old stuff as some of it I seem to remember was actually quite good ;-)

UK Games Expo 2011

My friend Leon is organising a 1500 point 40K tournament at the UK Games Expo 2011 similar to the one that he did last year. I wrote a very brief overview of it which can be found here.

Tickets to the UK Games Expo itself are available from here and only cost £8.00 if your just going on the Sunday.

Tickets for the tournament itself are available from here and also cost £8.00

£16.00 in total isn't bad going for a day of gaming and last year the prize support wasn't bad either. If he can get enough support this year then he'll endeavour to make it into a two day event in the future and as decent tournaments in the Birmingham area are few and far between I think we should all give him as much support as possible.

Last time I checked half of the 32 available places had been taken so hurry up and buy a ticket ;-)

Hopefully I'll see a few of you there as I've been 'roped in' as a judge.....

If you have any queries or questions then drop them in the comments section and hopefully Leon will chip with any necessary answers.
